2nd Annual Product Portfolio Management Benchmark Study

Appleseed Partners, in partnership with OpenSky Research, and sponsored by Planview are conducting the second annual Product Portfolio Management Benchmark Study designed to gain a better understanding of the dynamic environment product development professionals are working in and their approaches to managing the innovation to commercialization process.

The first study was completed in June, 2009 and this year promises more participants and more in-depth research. Last year, with more than 400 product development professionals participating, we had some interesting takeaways including:

• More than half of respondents had too many projects for their resources and resource capacity planning issues.
• 57% said that their greatest risk was missing critical market windows.
• Only 11% of companies constantly monitor and stop underperforming projects.
• Nearly 50% described their companies as "risk-averse" and less likely to make bets on new product innovation.
• Most respondents had a strong dependence on using spreadsheets, and basic office an project tools to manage sophisticated product pipelines.

This year's survey is only open through Wednesday, 29 September, 2010. You are invited to participate and in appreciation for your time and input, you'll receive a complimentary copy of the full report in November, 2010, as well as the 2009 report. You'll also be entered to win a 32GB Apple iPad.
