Challenges and Opportunities of Micro Reaction Technologies
Panel Discussion on Flow Chemistry
Achema 2018, the world’s leading international trade fair for the process industry, had “flexible production” as one of its focus topics. An essential key technology that provides flexibility is flow chemistry. A panel discussion organized by CHEManager focused on the use of continuous processes in chemical and pharmaceutical production.
The session started with a keynote presentation by Luigi Vaccaro, Professor of Organic Chemistry and Green Chemistry at the Università di Perugia, Italy, and author of the reference book "Sustainable Flow Chemistry" published by Wiley. Following the keynote speech, Luigi Vaccaro discussed future applications of milli and microreaction technology in the process industry with experts from the chemical & pharmaceutical industry. Participating in the discussion were Christoph Mürmann, Head of Process Engineering, Merck Performance Materials, Peter Poechlauer, Innovation Manager, Patheon (Thermo Fisher Scientific), Stefan Brand, Head of Process Innovation, Clariant Produkte (Deutschland), David Voigtlaender, Director Process R&D, Innovation Management, Evonik Nutrition & Care, Ingo Sander, Site Director Steinau, Evonik Nutrition & Care, Andreas Haubrich, Head Process Engineering Laboratory, Deputy Head Process Engineering, Sanofi-Aventis Deutschland, Ralf Böhling, Senior Manager Process Development, BASF. The discussion was moderated by Michael Reubold und Volker Oestreich, CHEManager.
The panel discussion was recorded and has been made available as video files thanks to the sponsorship of Ehrfeld Mikrotechnik.
