Syngenta Group announced important collaborations following the launch of its innovation accelerator platform Shoots by Syngenta in 2023. These collaborations, which connect expertise across industries and sectors, are aimed at making possible novel solutions to agricultural challenges more quickly and efficiently.

The Board of Directors at Syngenta Group has appointed Hengde Qin as the new Chief Financial Officer, starting from December 1, 2023. Qin will take over from Chen Lichtenstein who has served as CFO since Syngenta Group's inception but is now leaving to explore other business ventures.

Jeff Rowe will become Syngenta Group's CEO on January 1, 2024, transitioning from his current role as President of Syngenta Crop Protection. The current CEO, Erik Fyrwald, will retire at the end of the year after almost seven and a half years with the company. After retiring, Fyrwald will act as an Advisor to the Chairman of Syngenta Group and retain his position on the Board of Directors.

Swiss-based and Chinese-owned agrochemicals company Syngenta has opened its first biologicals service center at the group’s Seedcare Institute in Maintal, Germany, addressing growing farmer demand across the EU for biological seed treatment solutions.

Syngenta Crop Protection has bought Macspred Australia, a specialist in weed management for the forestry, roads, rail, utilities and infrastructure sectors.

Swiss-based and Chinese-owned agrochemicals company Syngenta has entered into a global commercial and R&D collaboration with Bioceres, a US-based provider of biological inoculants. Implementation of the agreement is subject to regulatory clearances.

Syngenta Group was officially launched on Jun. 18. Swiss-based and Chinese-owned, the group consists of four business units: Syngenta Crop Protection headquartered in Switzerland; Syngenta Seeds headquartered in the US; Adama headquartered in Israel; and Syngenta Group China.

After more than seven years of collaboration, Syngenta and Novozymes are now entering the commercialization phase of their microbial-based foliar fungicide Taegro.

The fate of the agrochemical innovation, development, product launch and production are strongly linked to the parallel development of the fine chemicals and custom manufacturing industry.
