"transport logistic": Ecocool with packaging solutions for pharmaceutical transports — focus on sustainability and cargo monitoring
Thermal hoods, boxes, cooling elements, data loggers: Ecocool supplies suitable equipment for GDP-compliant transportation of temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals.

At "transport logistic", Ecocool GmbH is presenting its portfolio of packaging solutions for the transportation of temperature-sensitive freight such as food and pharmaceuticals. The product range includes thermal hoods, boxes, shipping bags, cooling elements and data loggers. At the trade fair in Munich, Ecocool will be showcasing its entire range of pharmaceutical thermal covers for air and sea freight, such as the ECO-Xtreme high-performance thermal cover and the ECO-Safe+ solution with water blankets, in addition to its food packaging. The focus here is on product safety and the consistent reduction of the CO2 footprint. Ecocool achieves this not only on the material side, but also by reducing weight. "Another component of our holistic solutions for protecting temperature-sensitive goods is not only the packaging itself, but also consistent cargo monitoring," emphasizes Ecocool Managing Director Dr Florian Siedenburg. "For this purpose, we offer our wide range of data loggers from our partner Tempmate with single-use or multi-use function." Ecocool can be found at "transport logistic" in Hall A2, Stand 218.

The packaging specialist Ecocool from Bremerhaven is one of the leading manufacturers of transport refrigeration packaging in the pharmaceutical and food segment. Ecocool's thermal covers are suitable for protecting palletized goods during transport. The product spectrum for pharmaceutical transport by air and sea is broad: it ranges from the very light and space-saving disposable ECO-Light and ECO-Breath hoods to the reusable ECO-Safe solution and the premium ECO-Safe+ and ECO-Xtreme models.
To increase the thermal mass of light pharmaceutical palletized goods, the additional use of so-called water blankets in conjunction with thermal hoods is suitable. This blanket filled with water-based gel increases the thermal mass of the palletized goods. This combination, called ECO-Safe+, enables outstanding temperature stability in the range 15 –25°C. In addition to air freight applications, combined protection is also increasingly in demand for pharmaceutical sea freight - especially in the critical 2-8°C temperature segment.
A critical point in sea freight distribution is the loading of reefer containers onto the ship. This is because sea containers often have to be temporarily stored on the quay for several hours. This is where conventional thermal hoods reach their limits in the narrow temperature range of 2 to 8°C. The Ecocool ECO-Safe thermal cover in conjunction with water blankets is suitable for such cases, as this combination provides significantly greater protection than simple thermal covers.

One of the tried-and-tested products on display at the trade fair is the ECO-Xtreme high-performance thermal cover for pharmaceuticals, which is also available with water blankets and thus ensures greater temperature stability for air freight in the 15 to 25°C temperature segment. The combination of the thermal cover with its particularly high insulating effect and the water blankets is suitable for air freight goods handling under extreme weather conditions. The thermal hood is an economically and ecologically advantageous alternative to pallet shippers due to its significantly reduced material and space consumption.

For pharmaceutical transportation over the last mile, Ecocool offers its GDP-qualified pharmaceutical boxes in combination with cooling elements. They are designed for shipping in the 2 – 8°C segment. The temperature is monitored using suitable data loggers, which Ecocool also has in its portfolio. Real-time monitoring in particular is becoming increasingly interesting for many shippers. These devices can be used to track the goods during distribution. Thanks to a large number of different sensors, incorrect routing, handling errors or even unauthorized access can be detected in real time so that the shipper is informed in good time via an alarm function in order to intervene and avoid a loss of consignment.
