Dow is pumping $100M into silicones manufacturing across the US, China, and Japan — accelerating supply for EVs, electronics, and medical devices.

Elkem, a Norwegian manufacturer of silicon-based advanced materials, has initiated a strategic review of its Silicones division. The review is initiated with a target to streamline Elkem, as well as to enable the allocation of capital to accelerate growth in the Silicon Products and Carbon Solutions divisions.

German chemical company Wacker Chemie has broken ground for its new production site in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. Wacker plans to produce room-temperature-curing high-performance silicones there from the end of 2025 and high-consistency silicone rubbers from 2028.
