Lummus Wins Saudi Propane Project

Alujain National Industrial has chosen Lummus Technology’s Catofin propane dehydrogenation (PDH) process for a new propylene plant to be built in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. The contract marks the first time that Alujain will license Lummus’ PDH technology at the site.

Lummus Signs First European License for Pyrolysis Technology

Lummus Technology’s Green Circle subsidiary has finalized a Letter of Intent with Phigenesis, which will use its New Hope Plastics Pyrolysis technology in a new chemical recycling facility in Europe. The facility, which will have a capacity of 150,000 t/y, marks the first license of the process in Europe. The companies did not disclose where the plant will be built.

Lummus and Braskem Partner on Green Ethylene Projects

Lummus Technology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Braskem Netherlands, part of Brazilian petrochemical group Braskem, to license the latter’s green ethylene technology. The technology will be deployed in two ethanol-to-ethylene conversion projects that are being developed in North America and Asia. No further details on the projects were disclosed.

Lummus and Synthos Partner on Biobutadiene

Lummus Technology’s Green Circle business is working with Polish tire producer Synthos to commercialize the latter’s biobutadiene technology. In a first step, the companies will develop a feasibility study for a plant producing 20,000 t/y of biobutadiene, which will form the basis for an investment decision.

Lummus wins Uzbek Ethylene Project

Lummus Technology has been awarded a contract by Enter Engineering for the Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex in Uzbekistan. Lummus Technology’s scope includes the design and supply of four proprietary Short Residence Time (SRT) VI- and VII-type cracking furnaces, which will more than double ethylene output at the facility. The company did not disclose the complex’s ethylene capacity nor gave a timescale for the project.
