Lummus wins Uzbek Ethylene Project

Lummus Technology has been awarded a contract by Enter Engineering for the Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex in Uzbekistan. Lummus Technology’s scope includes the design and supply of four proprietary Short Residence Time (SRT) VI- and VII-type cracking furnaces, which will more than double ethylene output at the facility. The company did not disclose the complex’s ethylene capacity nor gave a timescale for the project.

“We are grateful to continue our partnership at Shurtan and look forward to working with Enter Engineering to expand the ethylene production while reducing relative emissions and operating costs at the Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex,” said Lummus Technology president and CEO Leon de Bruyn, who added that the SRT furnaces “optimize reliability in capacity, yield, run-length and energy efficiency.”

The US process licensing group said it was selected due to its leading ethylene technology position and its extensive experience with ethylene furnaces. Lummus claims to have provided more ethylene furnaces than any other process licensor, representing more than 40% of global capacity.
