Unipar to Upgrade Largest Chlor-Alkali Plant in Brazil

Brazilian chemical group Unipar Carbocloro will modernize its chlor-alkali plant in Cubatão, Brazil, with electrolyzer technology from Dortmund, Germany-headquartered Thyssenkrupp Nucera. The upgrade is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025. According to Thyssenkrupp, Unipar will invest more than 1 billion reais (about €190 million) in the modernization.

Thyssenkrupp to Conduct a Feasibility Study for the Han-Ho H2 Hub Project

Thyssenkrupp Uhde has won a contract by Australian renewable energy company Ark Energy to carry out a feasibility study to support the development of the Han-Ho H2 Hub project. Ark Energy is leading the Han-Ho H2 Consortium involving three of Korea’s largest conglomerate groups including Hanwha Impact, Korea Zinc and SK Gas.

Thyssenkrupp Uhde and Johnson Matthey Win Ammonia Nod

German engineering contractor Thyssenkrupp Uhde and the UK’s Johnson Matthey are supplying a new cartridge for an ammonia plant in Turkey to significantly reduce pressure in the synthesis loop while maintaining the nameplate capacity of 1,200 t/d. Delivery is planned for 2024.

BASF and Thyssenkrupp in JDA for STAR Process

BASF and Thyssenkrupp have signed a joint development agreement to expand their cooperation on the Thyssenkrupp’s Steam Active Reforming (STAR process). The engineering group’s proprietary dehydrogenation process is used to produce propylene from propane feedstocks or iso-butylene from iso-butane feedstocks, using an exceptionally stable catalyst.
