Solvay has inaugurated its regenerative thermal oxidation (RTO) process at its US plant at Green River, Wyoming. The innovative emissions control technology, which Solvay claims is the first of its kind in the trona mining industry, is expected to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the plant by up to 20% annually and achieve a 4% reduction in emissions at group level by 2025.
Brussels, Belgium-headquartered chemical company Solvay has completed the coal phase-out initiative at its US site in Green River, Wyoming.
Solvay said it plans to resume construction on its 600,000 t/y soda ash capacity expansion at its Green River, Wyoming, US plant, with production now expected to start at the end of 2024. The project was put on hold in September 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic
Solvay is collaborating with two companies to collect and reuse the limestone residues from its soda ash production in Rosignano, Italy. The move will enable the residues to be reused in construction and agriculture.
Solvay is launching a pilot project at its site in Dombasle, France, to validate a more sustainable process for producing soda ash.
