LanzaTech, Seksui to Develop Waste-to-Ethanol Plants in Japan
US green technology firm LanzaTech has signed an agreement with Sekisui Chemical to deploy, at commercial scale, a jointly developed platform that converts syngas derived from municipal solid waste (MSW) and industrial solid waste into ethanol. Sekisui intends to build multiple facilities in municipalities across Japan which incorporate equipment packages, engineering and advisory services, consumables, and intellectual property provided by LanzaTech, the companies said.
LyondellBasell to Acquire German Plastic Recycler APK
In a move to grow and upgrade its circular and low carbon solutions business, chemical producer LyondellBasell is to acquire full ownership of plastic recycler APK in Merseburg, Germany. Closing of the transaction is subject to customary closing conditions. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
Honeywell and Repsol to Partner on Biofuels Development

Dow Acquires Polyethylene Recycler Circulus
Dow has signed an agreement to acquire US company Circulus, a recycler of plastic waste into post-consumer resin (PCR). The transaction includes two facilities, one in Ardmore, Oklahoma, and another in Arab, Alabama, with a total capacity of 50,000 metric tons per year. Dow expects the transaction to close in the third quarter of 2024, subject to customary regulatory approval.

LyondellBasell Buys Mechanical Recycling Assets in California
Olefins and polyolefins giant LyondellBasell (LYB) has acquired mechanical recycling assets containing rigid plastics recycling processing lines in the US from PreZero, a recycling and waste management service provider. The transaction, LYB said, includes the lease of the processing facility in Jurupa Valley, California, with a production capacity of approx. 23 million kg/year for recycled materials.
