Worley Wins Texas PTA/PET Project

American Australian engineering group Worley has won two contracts from Corpus Christi Polymers (CCP) to build an integrated PTA/PET plant in Corpus Christi, Texas, USA.

The facility will produce 1.2 million t/y PTA and 1.1 million t/y PET, making it the largest of its kind in the Americas when it starts up in 2024, Worley said.

The contracts are for construction management on the PTA/PET units and general services by Worley to support the installation and maintenance of constructing temporary facilities.

On Jul. 18, CCP announced that construction work on the plants, which had been suspended because of disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, would resume in August.

CCP is a three-way venture between Thai PET producer Indorama Ventures, DAK Americas and Taiwan’s Polytech USA Holdings. The venture was formed in 2018 to buy the site and its partially built PTA/PET plant previously owned by M&G Resins, which went into receivership.
