Syensqo and Bota Bio Partner on Haircare

Syensqo recently announced a strategic five-year partnership with Bota Bio, a global industrial biotechnology company specializing in biomanufactured, clean, and high-performance consumer products.

This collaboration highlights Syensqo’s efforts to expand its portfolio of renewable and biotechnology-enabled solutions.

Founded in 2019, Bota Bio is known for its innovation. The company has connected biological design to scale-up manufacturing to promote sustainable living.

"Thanks to our shared business vision and development goals, the partnership with Bota Bio aligns with our leadership in innovation and underscores the pivotal role of biotechnology in the rapid expansion of our specialty ingredients portfolio," commented Thomas Canova, Head of Research & Innovation at Syensqo.

Syensqo will use Bota Bio’s protein technology to innovate in hair and scalp care, focusing on hair repair and growth. The collaboration, led by Syensqo’s Renewable Materials and Biotechnology Platform and Beauty Business Unit, aims to develop high-performance biomimetic ingredients, leveraging Syensqo’s 40 years of expertise in hair care and increasing focus on scalp care.

"Bota is actively engaged in developing advanced strains and optimizing manufacturing processes to enhance the scalability of innovative hair care ingredients production," added Cheryl Cui, CEO at Bota Bio. "We are excited about this opportunity to define products leveraging Syensqo’s innovation heritage and expert knowledge."

The partnership was initiated and supported by Syensqo Ventures, which works with emerging startups. Syensqo Ventures and Bota Bio believe that transitioning cutting-edge technologies into sustainable applications requires partnerships across the value chain and between corporations and startups.
