Shell Declares FM for Base Chemicals at Singapore

Shell has declared force majeure (FM) for base chemicals product from its cracker complex at Singapore, due to what it called an “operational upset” on Oct. 15.

The incident resulted in flaring, Shell said, while stressing that there were no injuries. The facility has a nameplate capacity of more than 900,000 t/y of ethylene. The multinational oil and petrochemicals group said it was working to restore normal operations as soon as possible.
