Shell and Hyundai Deepen Ties as 20-Year Partnership Gets New Deal
The two companies renew their global cooperation agreement, extending two decades of collaboration on lubricants and clean mobility.

Shell Lubricants and Hyundai Motor Company have today announced a five-year renewal of their global partnership, reinforcing a shared commitment to delivering performance, innovation and value.
Shell and Hyundai Motor have renewed their global cooperation agreement for a fifth time since 2005, extending a 20-year partnership spanning product development, motorsport engineering and aftersales support.
Under the new five-year deal, Shell maintains its position as Hyundai Motor's recommended supplier of aftersales lubricants globally, with the two companies continuing to develop advanced lubricant technologies for high-performance vehicle programs. Shell will continue supplying Shell Helix engine oil to Hyundai customers worldwide.
Lee Ming Seow, Vice President, Global Key Accounts and New Business Development, Shell Lubricants, said: “For more than two decades, Shell and Hyundai Motor have partnered to deliver innovation, performance, and customer value globally. Together, we have advanced lubricant technology, supported Hyundai Motor's mobility ambitions, and translated learnings from motorsport into real-world benefits.
As we look ahead, we are expanding our collaboration in next-generation e-fluids, thermal management, digital innovation, and high-performance mobility. By combining our expertise we will continue to develop solutions that enhance performance, efficiency, and sustainability for Hyundai Motor and our customers worldwide.”
Beom Seok Kang, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Service Sub-Division at Hyundai Motor Company, said: “We are pleased to extend Hyundai Motor’s long-standing partnership with Shell. Through our collaborative aftersales service marketing initiatives over the past years, we have successfully enhanced our global aftersales service competitiveness and improved customer satisfaction by delivering Shell's premium quality engine oils to Hyundai customers worldwide. Together, we will be better positioned to respond proactively to changes in the future mobility market while continuing to create greater value for our customers and strengthen our long-term global competitiveness.”
Beyond aftersales, the partnership extends into motorsport: Shell will serve as Performance and Innovation Partner for Genesis Magma Racing's 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship debut, building on its expanded ties with Hyundai's luxury brand Genesis. Shell has also sponsored the Hyundai Shell Mobis World Rally Team since 2014, and works with Hyundai's N performance division to co-engineer lubricants for high-performance and EV models.
The renewed agreement marks the next chapter in a 20-plus-year partnership, with both companies set to keep advancing lubricant technology and future mobility solutions.
