Sanofi Builds Modern Office at BioCampus Frankfurt

The biopharmaceutical company Sanofi in Germany and the industrial park operator Infraserv Höchst laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art office building in the south of the industrial park.

With the four-storey building, Sanofi is creating a modern working environment for up to 1,000 employees on its BioCampus. The building has multiple certifications and takes current environmental aspects into account, combines individual, healthy, and barrier-free working with collaboration, and drives innovation. Completion of the building in the south of the industrial park is scheduled for the end of 2027.

Future-Oriented Workplace Concept for More Innovation

Infraserv Höchst will construct the new building and act as landlord, while Sanofi will move in as a long-term tenant. "The new building is part of our initiative to create work environments at Sanofi that promote innovation, sustainability, and collaboration," explains Heidrun Irschik-Hadjieff, CEO of Sanofi in Germany. "Many sites around the world are already following this concept for modern, sustainable, healthy, and barrier-free workplace design and office work, in which different work modules are available depending on the activity. The increased flexibility and the many opportunities for collaboration and exchange among colleagues promote innovation. As a research-based biopharmaceutical company, we know this: Great ideas are born where people can work together optimally."

With an area of around 15,000 m2 spread over four floors, the building will offer 600 ergonomic workstations and other collaborative working opportunities for central functions such as Finance and Human Resources, as well as the business units based in Frankfurt. The new building will also have a central atrium with a reception area, a conference module, catering facilities with a café and restaurant, a roof garden on the second floor, and an outdoor area that will allow employees to work in green surroundings. The proximity to the research and production units on the Sanofi BioCampus and, at the same time, external access strengthens the idea of an integrated site from research to commercialization and underlines Sanofi's close ties to the site.

Strategic site development and improved infrastructure

"We are delighted to be able to construct the new building for Sanofi in the south of Industriepark Höchst. Sanofi's decision is a testament to our mutual trust and shared vision for the site's future development," emphasized Alexander Wagner, Managing Director of Infraserv Höchst. "The new, state-of-the-art office building will further enhance the south of the industrial park and will also meet the highest sustainability standards in terms of construction."

The building will meet the criteria for Gold certification according to the standard of the German Sustainable Building Council. The specifications for BREEAM certification will also be met. This is one of the world's first and most widely used methods for assessing the sustainability of buildings. Aspects such as energy, water consumption, materials, and the impact on the environment are assessed. The planners rely on energy-efficient systems and sustainable materials throughout. For example, rainwater is used as service water in the building. The WELL v2 certification also takes into account aspects of physical and mental health and comfort for all building users. The immediate proximity to the future stop of the new "Regionaltangente West" and the connection to the long-distance train station at Frankfurt Airport underline the sustainability concept: the transport links to local and long-distance transport and the proximity to cycle paths provide employees and guests with sustainable and convenient access.
