Safic-Alcan Acquires Plastics Distributor 4PLAS

Independent French specialty chemicals distributor Safic-Alcan has acquired UK engineering plastics distributor 4PLAS for an undisclosed sum.

The British company with 11 employees and sales of £ 13.5 million supplies polymer solutions to the injection moulding industry in the UK and Ireland. Its portfolio extends to masterbatches and color & custom compounds, as well as its high performance materials and  additives & fillers.

With this acquisition, its fifth in the UK over the past 15 years, Safic-Alcan said the UK country will become one of its main regions for plastics distribution, which currently account for 5% of  its sales.

The French distributor’s portfolio also encompasses a wide ranges of polymers, materials and additives for the rubber, coatings, adhesives, thermoplastics, polyurethane, lubricants, detergency, cosmetics,  pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals industries.

In another acquisition, Safic-Alcan has taken 100% control of PNP, an Italian distributor with a strong presence in dairy and food ingredients. The latest deal in this sector will complement the business of Castelli Food, which Safic-Alcan acquired in 2019.
