Nouryon Rebrands Industrial Chemicals as Nobian

Dutch chemical producer Nouryon has rebranded its wholly-owned industrial chemicals business as Nobian. The company said the change will allow the subsidiary to develop its integrated European value chain for essential base chemicals under its own name as Nouryon continues to focus on growing its leading position in global specialty chemicals.

The new Nobian regards itself is a European leader in production of salt, chlor-alkali and chloromethanes, used to manufacture disinfectants, lightweight durable plastics, aluminum, pharmaceuticals and other products. The business is headquartered in Amersfoort, the Netherlands, and employs around 1,800 people with manufacturing facilities in the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark.

Nouryon said the brand will be introduced through a phased approach in the coming months, beginning with a new website. Knut Schwalenberg, president of Nobia, said the business will grow under the new name, in particular with the ongoing expansion of chloromethane production in Frankfurt, Germany, to better serve customers in the pharmaceutical and construction industries.

At the beginning of 2020, Nouryon introduced a new organizational structure that Charlie Shaver, the company’s chairman and CEO, said  allows its businesses, operations and functions to focus on what they do best, along with a new strategy that exceeds customer expectations, grows faster than the the competition and increases the share of specialties in its portfolio. Going forward, he said, Nobian will pursue even more focused growth strategies under separate brands.
