„Mit dem EDHOX-Verfahren haben wir nicht nur eine kosteneffiziente Alternative entwickelt, sondern stellen der petrochemischen Industrie auch ein emissionsarmes Verfahren zur Verfügung“, sagte John van der Velden, Senior Vice President Global Sales & Technology bei Linde Engineering. Industrial gases and engineering group Linde has commissioned six major air separation units (ASUs), each with a capacity of around 100,000 standard cubic metres (cbm) of gaseous oxygen per hour (Nm3/h) at Lingwu in northwestern China.

The plants were built for Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group, part of the Shenhua Group. Ningxia is the largest coal producer in the People’s Republic and additionally manufactures coal-derived chemicals.

Ningxia requires the oxygen for its coal-to-liquid (CTL) complex at the Ningdong Energy Chemical Base, one of the largest coal-to-liquid projects worldwide. The facility produces 4 million tonnes of CTL products – mainly liquid fuel derived from coal – annually.

Along with the six plants started up by Linde, another six ASUs are soon to be completed at Lingwu, making the site the world’s largest connected air separation complex, with 12 production units generating around 1.2 million Nm3/h altogether.
