German-based global chemical distributor Brenntag has once again boosted its presence in the North American lubricants market with the purchase of Mayes County Petroleum Products (MCP), which is headquartered in Pryor, Oklahoma, USA. The deal follows two other acquisitions made in the US last December, notably J.A.M. Distributing Company, headquartered in Houston, Texas, and G.H. Berlin-Windward, headquartered in Manchester, New Hampshire.

MCP distributes lubricants, commercial fuel, chemicals and ancillary services to customers in the industrial, commercial, construction, mining and agricultural markets, mainly throughout Oklahoma. The business posted sales of $37 million in 2015. Markus Klähn, CEO of Brenntag North America, said the company intends to take an active and regionally selective part in consolidating the North American lubricants distribution sector which is highly attractive and still fragmented.

The transaction is expected to close over the course of the coming weeks. Financial details were not disclosed.
