Clarity, Quality and Efficiency
Within the Brenntag Group, the Pharma business unit is responsible for supplying pharmaceutical manufacturers, biotech companies and CDMOs with regulatory raw materials, specialty chemicals and technical and documentation-related services. Unveiled in April 2026, the biopharma brand, Byphar, is aimed specifically at companies in the biopharmaceutical industry and bundles raw materials, regulatory documentation, technical services and supply chain services in an integrated portfolio. Joakim Rehné, President of Brenntag Pharma EMEA, explains the strategy behind the Byphar brand.

CHEManager: What challenges do you currently see for biopharmaceutical companies, and how can Brenntag support them?
Joakim Rehné: The biopharma market is experiencing rapid growth, but companies continue to face challenges around sourcing high quality raw materials, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining supply chain transparency, and accelerating time to market. Many materials traditionally used in biopharma were not specifically developed according to biopharmaceutical manufacturing requirements.
With Byphar, Brenntag addresses these challenges by providing a dedicated portfolio of biopharma-focused raw materials, supported by technical expertise, regulatory documentation, reliable supply chains, and strategic partnerships. Our goal is to simplify sourcing, reduce complexity, and help customers bring innovative therapies to patients faster.
Brenntag positions the new Byphar brand as a solution for the biopharmaceutical development and production process. What is your goal with the strategy of establishing the biopharma portfolio as a brand?
J. Rehné: Our goal is to offer customers more than a collection of products. Byphar provides a unified platform built around quality, compliance, and reliability throughout the biopharmaceutical manufacturing journey.
