Chemistry is … Weatherproof and reliable

Weatherproof and reliable - Different production conditions, trades and weather conditions - Wood composite materials are exposed to a variety of stresses, but it is always important that the construction holds up. The challenges in wood processing often lie in the details. Phenolic and amino resins help in the production of plywood and laminated wood. The German binder manufacturer Prefere Resins from Erkner near Berlin has even developed a particularly low-emission resin technology. Such synthetic resins can be found, for example, in the impressive interior of the Katowice concert hall: phenolic resin for philharmonic orchestra, so to speak. In the balconies and ceiling construction, plywood strips are combined with solid wood lamellas. The Metropol Parasol in the Spanish city of Seville is at least as impressive. With a length of 150 m, a width of 70 m and a height of 26 m, the "sun canopy" is the largest wooden construction in the world. For the construction 3,500 m3 of veneer laminated wood were used.
