Yusen Logistics, a subsidiary of Japan’s Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) Group, was founded in Tokyo in 1955. With more than 30,000 employees at over 733 logistics bases in 47 countries worldwide and more than 4.5 million square meters of warehouse space, the company is one of the world’s leading logistics providers. Following the acquisition of Walden Group, a family-owned company founded in France in 1951, the logistics providers Movianto, Eurotranspharma, and Transpharma International became part of Yusen Group in December 2025. Birgit Megges spoke with Bruno Jacques, CEO of Yusen Logistics Healthcare and Deputy Managing Director of Yusen Logistics Europe, about the integration of the group’s companies and his strategy for the pharmaceutical and healthcare market in Europe.
CHEManager: Mr. Jacques, your appointment as CEO of Yusen Logistics Healthcare came shortly after the acquisition of Walden Healthcare Group. How far has the group’s integration progressed? What are the next steps?
Bruno Jacques: The integration is progressing well and according to plan. During the first phase, we focused on meeting the former Walden teams, understanding the strengths of each organisation, and defining the target operating model for Yusen Logistics Healthcare in Europe.
We are now moving from design to deployment. Over the coming months, our focus will be on deploying the target operating model and bringing our teams and capabilities closer together, while ensuring continuity for our customers throughout the integration process. This will allow us to bring together the strengths of Yusen Logistics and the former Walden Healthcare companies in a structured way.
The priority is not simply to integrate companies from an organisational standpoint. It is to build a stronger, more connected healthcare logistics platform in Europe, with the ability to support pharmaceutical and healthcare customers at both regional and global level.
What role are Movianto, Eurotranspharma, and Transpharma International expected to play within Yusen Logistics Healthcare in Europe going forward?
B. Jacques: Movianto, Eurotranspharma and Transpharma International will play a central role in our European healthcare strategy. Together, they represent a highly specialized and connected ecosystem of pharmaceutical supply chain solutions across Europe.
Their expertise is highly complementary to Yusen Logistics’ existing capabilities, allowing us to combine specialized European healthcare solutions with the strength and reach of our global logistics network. Movianto brings in a dedicated, strong multi-client European warehouse network, distribution capabilities and full service offers like order to cash, Eurotranspharma adds dedicated healthcare transport and last-mile expertise, and Transpharma International strengthens our cross-border transport solutions. Combined with Yusen Logistics’ existing healthcare capabilities in Europe and globally, this creates a powerful platform to support customers across the pharmaceutical supply chain, from manufacturing through to distribution and ultimately the patient.
