Ineos Orders Ethane Carriers to Supply LNG

UK-steered petrochemicals giant Ineos has signed long-term charter agreements with Japan’s IINO Kaiun Kaisha line for delivery of two Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLECs) with a volume of 99,000 cbm, initially to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Germany.

CPChem and QatarEnergy Green Light US Complex

Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem) and QatarEnergy — formerly Qatar Petroleum — have taken a positive final investment decision on their proposed $8.5 billion joint ethylene/PE complex in the US. They have formed a joint venture called Golden Triangle Polymers, owned 51% by CPChem and 49% by QatarEnergy.

Borealis and Total Start Ethane Cracker in Texas

The 1 million t/y ethane cracker built by US-headquartered Bayport Polymers (also known as Baystar), a 50:50 joint venture of Borealis and TotalEnergies, has begun commercial scale production at Total’s refinery in Port Arthur, Texas.

McDermott Wins Follow-up Russian Cracker Contract

US engineering contractor McDermott International has been awarded a follow-up contract for the ethane cracker complex being built by China National Chemical Engineering & Construction Corporation Seven (CC7) for the Baltic Chemical Plant (BCP) in the Russian Baltic seaport of Ust-Luga.
