Sojitz Acquires Majority Shares in Nippon A&L

Sojitz, Sumitomo Chemical, and Mitsui Chemicals have concluded a share purchase agreement in which Sojitz will acquire Nippon A&L. Following this acquisition, Nippon A&L will become a consolidated subsidiary of Sojitz.

Sojitz will acquire a 66.5% majority stake in Nippon A&L, a company specializing in SBR latexes (used in lithium-ion batteries and paper processing) and ABS resins (used in cars and appliances). The deal is expected to be completed in July 2025, making Nippon A&L a Sojitz subsidiary. This move is part of Sojitz’s strategy to expand in chemicals and support growth in the electric vehicle and battery markets. Sumitomo Chemical and Mitsui Chemicals, the current owners, expect this transfer to help Nippon A&L grow further under Sojitz’s management.
