Nouryon Licenses CiD Technology to China

Nouryon has agreed to license its Continuous Initiator Dosing (CiD) technology for PVC production to China’s Shaanxi Beiyuan Chemical Group for five years. The Dutch chemical company will also supply its Trigonox 187 proprietary CiD initiator, which it will produce at its site in Tianjin, China.

“As the largest global producer of polymerization initiators for PVC, Nouryon is excited to partner with Beiyuan and extend our technology to China,” said Alain Rynwalt, vice president polymer specialties. “Nouryon’s patented CiD technology will allow Beiyuan to increase reactor output, while improving productivity and energy consumption, product quality and operational safety.” The company said the deal builds on its successful track record of supplying CiD technology to customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and the Americas.

Beiyuan’s general manager Yancia Liu added: “With this agreement, we look forward to advancing the PVC market and creating more value in China. We believe our partnership with Nouryon will keep us at the forefront of the industry and will help us to address increasingly stringent environmental and safety regulations.”

According to UK analytics and consulting company GlobalData, global PVC capacity is forecast to increase from 56 million t in 2019 to 65 million t in 2024, with China accounting for half of this increase.
