Mosaic Q1 Profit Up 77%

Mosaic reported first quarter net earnings of $526.0 million, up 77% from $297.7 million in the prior year quarter. Earnings per share were $1.17 in the quarter, up 75% from $0.67 per share in the prior year period.

Net sales were $3.08 billion, a 41% increase from $2.19 billion in the same period last year.

Total sales volumes for the Potash segment are expected to range from 1.7 to 2.1 million tonnes for the second quarter of fiscal 2012. Total sales volumes for the Phosphates segment are expected to range from 3.1 to 3.5 million tonnes for the second quarter of fiscal 2012.
