IMCD Buys China’s Aquatech

Dutch specialty chemicals and ingredients distributor IMCD has agreed to buy Aquatech Speciality (Shanghai) International Trading and Aquatech Speciality (Guangzhou) Trading in China. No financial details were disclosed for the transaction, which is expected to close during November.

Established in 2004, Aquatech supplies waterborne solutions for the coatings, ink and textile industries. The company posted revenue of about €6.8 million in 2020 and adds 10 employees to the IMCD China team.  IMCD said Aquatech’s coatings business enhances the future-focused portfolio of its coatings and construction business group in China.

The acquisition is the second IMCD has made in China in the past four months. On Jun. 2, the Dutch distribution group announced it had taken over Shanghai Yuanhe Chemicals, a specialty coatings, textile and ink solution distributor with 20 employees and 2020 revenues of €13.2 million.
