Honeywell to Expand PA Production in Virginia

U.S. chemical producer Honeywell has announced plans to expand its polyamide production at Chesterfield, Virginia, by 40,000 t/y up to the end of 2015.

The new plant, scheduled to start up in next year's fourth quarter, will produce both PA 6 and PA 6/PA 6.6 copolymers, lifting Honeywell's total output at the site to 200,000 t/y. Caprolactam feedstock will be supplied from a wholly owned 350,000 t/y plant at Hopewell, Virginia.

Output of the expanded facility will be used in production of high-quality packaging film.
