Eurotecnica Wins China Melamine Project

Italian contractor Eurotecnica has won a contract from China’s Xinji Energy Chemical to build a high-pressure melamine plant.

Eurotecnica said the 120,000 t/y facility to be built in Xinji in Hebei province will be the largest of its type in the world. The contractor, which did not disclose a startup date for the project, will supply its fifth-generation Euromel technology.

The Chinese firm’s parent Xinjiang Xuefeng regards itself as the world’s largest producers of melamine. It said it chose the Euromel technology because it has the lowest energy consumption on the market, as well as no catalyst, no added chemicals and no effluents to be treated.

In February 2021, Eurotecnica won another melamine contract in China, that time from the Yankuang Group for a 60,000 t/y plant.
