Brenntag Food & Nutrition has opened a new site in Padua, Italy, incorporating the facilities of Chimab, a local supplier of food ingredients and semi-finished food products that it acquired in late 2014.

The center, which houses operational and administrative facilities and offices, is entirely dedicated to the development, production and distribution of food ingredients and solutions, with pilot plants and equipment able to scale up industrial production processes.

“The Padua site is a great example of the commitment that Brenntag is making towards the future of our growing Food & Nutrition business,” said Tom Corcoran, vice president, Brenntag Food & Nutrition. “We are expanding our assets and capabilities to further meet our customers’ needs aligned to developing consumer trends.”

Brenntag’s vice president Food & Nutrition EMEA, Frank Haven, added that the site will offer new possibilities to customers and suppliers not only in Italy but throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Last month, the German-headquartered distributor announced the official opening of a new warehouse in China. Located in a dedicated chemical park at Dongguan, Guangdong province in the south of the country, the site includes 24 storage tanks, a 3,000 m2 storage area for Class A chemicals and a workshop and blending area for solvents and inorganic chemicals.
