Bodo Möller Chemie Expands in Americas
German specialty chemicals distributor Bodo Möller Chemie has established subsidiaries in Mexico and USA as it continues to strengthen its international presence.
New US subsidiary Bodo Moeller Chemie Corp. is located in Atlanta, Georgia, close to key automotive manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers. Bodo Möller Chemie Mexicana is situated in Mexico City. Both subsidiaries will focus on distributing Dow Automotive’s adhesives and other technologies, including Betamate, Betalink, Betaclean, Betaprime, Betaseal and Betafoam branded products.
“The American market is very exciting for us due to its absolute size and growth perspective as well as the dynamism of e-mobility products,” said Andreas Moser, Bodo Möller Chemie’s marketing director formulated systems.
The move follows the founding of subsidiaries in Israel and Africa earlier this year. From July, the distributor started operating from a new branch in Tel Aviv, distributing products made by Huntsman Advanced Materials. These include epoxy resins, formulated systems and components used in electronics, adhesives and coatings by the aviation and aerospace industries and for processing composite materials.
Frank Haug, CEO of Bodo Möller Chemie, said there is great demand in Israel for specialized solutions in many complex industries. The company added that in the long term, Israeli customers would benefit from additional products and an expanded portfolio of raw materials.
In February, the Offenbach-headquartered distributor set up a subsidiary in Morocco, adding to its activities in Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria. Haug commented: “The West African market is experiencing an exciting phase as this country offers many development opportunities and there is a strong demand for the products and industrial sectors that we serve.”
Again, Bodo Möller Chemie is marketing products from Huntsman Advanced Materials, among others, including epoxy resins, polyacrylates and polyurethanes, as well as polymers for floor coatings and polymer formulations. The distributor said it is increasingly focusing on products with applications in adhesive and sealing technology, and in the composites, electrical and paints and coatings industries.
At the end of 2015, Bodo Möller Chemie acquired Huntsman Advanced Materials’ production plant in Sadat City, Egypt, which produces 4,500 t/y of polymer material for floorings and polymer formulations, as well as two sales offices with laboratories in Cairo and Alexandria.
