German chemical distributor Biesterfeld Spezialchemie has bought compatriot distributor Schütz & Co. for an undisclosed sum. The newly acquired business is based in Hamburg, and distributes customized APIs and excipients.

“The acquisition fits perfectly into the growth strategy of the Biesterfeld Group. It not only strengthens our core competencies, but also deepens our focus on specialty chemicals and customer-specific solutions,” said CEO Thomas Arnold.

Schütz has several long-standing partnerships with major pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies in more than 50 countries. Biesterfeld said they will work together to leverage and expand their mutual customer and supplier relationships in a targeted manner.
