BASF Coatings Opens New Application and Technical Center in China

BASF's Coatings division has inaugurated its new application and technical center in Jiangmen, China, which is located within the site of BASF Coatings (Guangdong) (BCG).

The application and technical center will contribute to innovation in the coatings industry by simulating customer environments with real-world equipment and conditions. Representing a significant first for BCG, the facility is equipped with two large combination spray booths, and a complete range of equipment for product development, covering the entire process from sanding and mixing to detailing and measuring, BASF said.

Established in 2016, the BCG manufacturing facility has been offering a comprehensive portfolio of refinish coatings products, including transportation solutions.

“We are proud of our new product development and the efficiency gains from having a dedicated application center in Asia Pacific,” said Chris Titmarsh, senior vice president, Automotive Refinish Coatings at BASF. “Its proximity to our R&D and production facilities in China and beyond ensures synergy and a real-time response to market demands.”

Susann Kluge, vice president, Automotive Refinish Coatings Asia Pacific at BASF, added: “The new application and technical center is more than an extension of our production site and innovation hub. It is a dedicated technology hub designed for rigorous product and process testing, evaluation, and competitor benchmarking. With this, we can deliver products of the highest standard to the market that perfectly cater to our customers' requirements.”
