Barentz Expands in Latin America with Argentina Base

Dutch life science ingredients distributor Barentz has opened an office in Buenos Aires, Argentina, expanding its coverage in Latin America. The move coincides with the appointment of subsidiary Barentz Argentina as a strategic partner of Roquette Freres for all of its human nutrition and pharmaceutical ingredients business in the country.

Headquartered in Lestrem, France, Roquette Freres is a family-owned company that regards itself as a global leader in plant-based ingredients as well as a leading provider of pharmaceutical excipients.

Roquette and Barentz have been working closely together for many years in several countries by developing distribution channels backed up by technical expertise. We know exactly how to anticipate each other’s activities and understand where we are valuable in the chain,” said Barentz CEO Hidde van der Wal.

“For all clients involved in our new set-up in Argentina, there will be numerous advantages and great opportunities for growth,” added Frank Smit, Barentz regional director Latin America.

Part of the distributor’s overall strategy is to grow further in the South American market and to become the global leader in life science ingredients.
