Dutch specialty chemicals distributor Barentz, through its subsidiary Tovani Benzaquen Ingredients, has acquired Brazilian company Chemspecs for an undisclosed sum.

Barentz said Chemspecs is the largest specialized distributor of personal care ingredients, serving the Brazilian cosmetics markets and both its product portfolio and customer base are complementary to Tovani.

“It is the perfect complement to Tovani’s existing team of specialists and it will certainly enhance the further development of our product portfolio and services,” commented Moses Benzaquen, CEO of Tovani Benzaquen Ingredients.

Headquartered   in Sao Paolo, Tovani Benzaquen Ingredients is a major distributor of food ingredients in South America and has been part of Barentz since 2018.

This latest acquisition follows the purchase last May of Finnish company Casmo, a specialized distributor of casings, smoke condensates and flavors for the meat industry. Barentz said the move broadens its portfolio for the food industry and will generate rapid growth in the Scandinavian market, especially in Denmark and Sweden.
