Azelis Expands in Brazil with Vogler Buy

Azelis has agreed to acquire the majority shares of Brazilian specialty distributor Vogler Ingredients. Vogler is active in the food & nutrition and animal nutrition markets and employs 130 people servicing 2,300 customers, including many of the region’s largest food and animal feed producers.

The move expands Azelis’ footprint in Latin America and adds three application laboratories in Sao Paulo and a regional office in Recife. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter.

“In line with our strategic vision to be the preeminent innovation service provider in the regions where we operate, joining forces with Vogler provides Azelis with a significant foothold in the Brazilian food and nutrition market and the opportunity to expand with our customers and principals,” said Frank Bergonzi, CEO of Azelis Americas.

“In addition,” Bergonzi said, “Vogler is a platform for Azelis in Brazil to provide further growth by leveraging our international infrastructure and global lab network. We will utilize Vogler as the foundation to add market segments and expand our lateral value chain.”

Vogler general director João Viveiros added that the combination with Azelis will allow it to enter new markets, benefitting its principal suppliers and customers.

Azelis originally entered the Latin American market in December 2019 with the acquisition of Megafarma, a Mexican specialty distributor for the pharma, food and veterinary industries, which it later rebranded as Azelis Mexico. In June 2022, Azelis opened its new Mexican headquarters in Mexico City, which it said at the time would provide a foundation for growing both the Mexico-based team and further expansion into Latin America.
