Azelis Buys Whitfield Chemical

Azelis has bought Whitfield Chemical, the owner of WhitChem, a UK distributor focused on the coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers (CASE) and rubber and plastic additives (R&PA) market segments. Financial terms of the deal, Azelis’s third so far this year, were not disclosed.

Based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, WhitChem has 30 employees and generates most of its sales in the UK, while also making some exports to Ireland.

Commenting on WhitChem, Anna Bertona, CEO & president, Azelis EMEA, said: “Their exemplary expertise, strong relationships and a diverse customer base complement the organic growth of Azelis, while at the same time providing a valuable addition for our lateral value chain for this growing market.”

WhitChem’s managing director Charles Hawley added: “We see many cross-selling opportunities with our complementary product portfolios. CASE and R&PA are exciting markets that have seen significant growth of late and we are eager to expand our product offering and innovative services to the combined customer base.”

In the first two months of this year, Azelis purchased Turkish food ingredients and additives distributor Tunckaya, as well as a majority stake in Thailand’s Catalite, a distributor of specialty chemicals to the personal care and home care market segments, as well as industrial formulations, intermediates and coatings.
