Azelis Acquires Gillco Ingredients

Azelis has agreed to buy Gillco Ingredients, a leading US distributor of specialty ingredients for the food & nutrition market. Headquartered in San Marcos, California, Gillco has 40 employees, supplying nearly 1,000 customers.

“This acquisition strengthens our lateral value chain for the food and nutrition market, as well as the broader life sciences segment in the US, and allows us to offer a truly compelling proposition to both principals and customers,” said Azelis CEO Hans-Joachim Müller.

The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2023 – financial terms were not disclosed.

Earlier this month, Azelis Americas announced it had opened three new application laboratories in the US. Located in Princeton, New Jersey, the labs will service the personal care, homecare & industrial cleaning, and lubricants and metalworking fluids markets.

The labs will support all stages of the development process for Azelis’ customers, from concept to ingredient review, through to final formulation. Azelis has more than 65 application labs worldwide.

Vuk Milojkovic, managing director US at Azelis Americas, commented: “Our labs are purpose-built to facilitate strong relationships with our suppliers and produce customer collaborations that result in better formulations that are designed to meet the specific needs the market wants, from all-natural and more sustainable to longer-lasting and less-expensive.”
