Atul Thakrar New Head of DSM’s Bio-based Products & Services

Atul Thakrar has joined Dutch chemical producer DSM as head of the Bio-based Products & Services unit, effective July 1. In his most recent prior position, he served as president and CEO of Segetis, an early-stage specialty materials start-up based in the US.
Reporting to DSM’s chief innovation officer, Rob van Leen, Thakar will be based at Delft, the Netherlands, and will have responsibility for DSM’s involvement in the emerging bio-renewables industry. This will include holding board positions on the Reverdia and POET-DSM Advanced Biofuels joint venture boards.
The US citizen succeeds Anton Robek, who led DSM’s platform for products and services in biofuels and bio-based chemicals from 2011. The company said a further announcement will be made regarding Anton Robek’s future role.
