Arkema Offers Plastic Sheet Distributor for Sale

In line with its program to divest operations with sales of €700 million and refocus on core businesses, French chemical producer Arkema has announced plans to sell its plastic and aluminium sheet distribution arm Sunclear to the subsidiary’s long-time trading partner BF Invest.

Talks with representatives of Sunclear’s 354 employees in France, Italy and Spain have begun, and the divestment plan will be presented to Arkema France’s central works council on Jun. 25.

Part of the French chemical company’s PMMA business, Sunclear has annual sales of around €180 million and is estimated to have an enterprise value of €105 million. The range of products distributed includes polycarbonate sheet, PMMA sheet and PVC panels.
