Achema Will not Take Place in 2021

Achema 2021 will be postponed by almost a year to the beginning of April 2022. The decision to break the 3-year cycle was made in view of the continuing uncertainty caused by the corona pandemic after intensive discussions with the community and in the Achema Committee.

The global meeting place for the process industry is now scheduled to take place from April 4 to 8, 2022. A virtual event will be held to replace the world's leading trade fair for process technology, which is scheduled for mid-June next year. On June 15 and 16, 2021, Achema Pulse will offer the worldwide Achema community the opportunity to learn about the latest trends and make new contacts with highlight sessions, top-class discussions and lectures and interactive formats.

Seven months before the start the organizers have decided to postpone Achema after intensive consultation with exhibitors and partners. With this early decision Dechema wants to give exhibitors planning security in the light of the long-term preparation and investment required by a show of this size. The Achema Committee, representing the exhibitors, had previously also unanimously voted for a postponement to 2022.

"Our claim is to be the global meeting place for the process industry and to make it possible to experience it with all senses", explains Thomas Scheuring, CEO of Dechema Ausstellungs-GmbH. "As things stand at present, we will not be able to live up to this claim in June 2021, because we have to assume that travel will not yet be unrestricted at that time". The organizers see the postponement by about 9 months as an opportunity to create a diverse, lively and multi-sensorial Achema. "We want to meet the expectations of exhibitors and visitors for an ACHEMA", explains Björn Mathes, Member of the Executive Board of Dechema Ausstellungs-GmbH. This requires a comprehensive exhibition program and the opportunity for personal contact.
