The new innovation center in Singapore will be established as a permanent location in the Tesa technologynetwork to drive the customized development and scaling of removable adhesive solutions - especially for customers in the automotive and electronics industries.

The strategic partnership with A*Star, the leading public sector research and development agency in Singapore, combines research expertise with industrial networks to accelerate the creation of market-ready solutions. The collaboration between the two partners will also drive the development of the new debonding-on-demand adhesive technologies while strengthening Singapore's position as a center for advanced manufacturing and innovation in the circular economy.

Singapore as a strategic development location

The Singapore lab will focus on developing new polymer concepts for the electronics and automotive industries. Singapore was chosen for this strategic investment due to Tesa 's regional headquarters and the country's innovation leadership. The proximity to Nanyang Technological University and the cooperation with A*Star were further decisive factors. The lab strengthens the company's presence in the Asia Pacific region in addition to locations such as Vietnam, Thailand and India.

Tesa CEONorman Goldberg explains: "Tesa doesn't just stand for innovation - we go beyond borders. Our debonding-on-demand technologies will offer real added value: They enable strong, long-lasting adhesive bonds that can be easily released on command. This breakthrough will fundamentally change product repairability, recycling and reuse. We are helping industries to reduce waste and promote the circular economy without compromising performance."

Sustainable technologies meet customer requirements

Tesa 's innovative technologies are in tune with the times and meet customer requirements for repairable and recyclable products and components. "Our debonding-on-demand technologies will enable a completely new approach to product design. Sustainability will be integrated as an essential component in new applications and system solutions right from the start. We are thus creating new perspectives for entire industries in terms of production and lifecycle management," emphasizes Ingrid Sebald, Chief Technology Officer at Tesa.

New concepts already being planned

The debonding-on-demand lab started on July 1, 2025 with a team of experts, engineers and technicians and will be successively expanded thereafter. The aim is to develop new solutions and further improve existing debonding-on-demand concepts. The partners want to test up to 20 new concepts for performance and application relevance using a standardized procedure. Promising solutions will then be further developed and adapted to customer requirements.
