A consortium headed by Italian contractor Tecnimont has won a contract to provide engineering, procurement and site services for the proposed Amur Gas Chemical Complex (AGCC). The other members of the consortium include MT Russia and Sinopec Engineering.

The contract from Amur GCC, a subsidiary of Russian petrochemicals and plastics group Sibur Holding, is worth about €1.2 billion overall, the majority of which goes to Tecnimont.

The AGCC is the downstream expansion of the Amur Gas Processing Plant, a project on which Maire Tecnimont Group is also currently working. The proposed complex, which includes several large-scale polyolefin units, is located in Svobodny, in Russia’s far eastern Amur region, close to the border with China. Mechanical completion is expected during 2024.

Tecnimont said the entire project, which comprises both the gas and chemical complexes, will be one of the world’s largest petrochemical facilities and represents a “game changer in the global energy processing scenario”.

Last September, Sibur signed a preliminary agreement with Gazprom for the supply of 1.5 million t/y of LPG and ethane, enabling it to increase AGCC’s output to 2.3 million t/y of PE and 400,000 t/y of PP.

Tecnimont Finalizes Egyptian Ammonia Contract

In separate news, Tecnimont has also finalized all technical and commercial conditions of an engineering, procurement and construction contract with Egypt Hydrocarbon Corp.

The contract, worth about $550 million, relates to the installation of a new 1,320 t/d ammonia plant in Ain Sokhna in Egypt. Completion is scheduled for 36 months from the effective date of the contract, which will be triggered by the project’s financial closing.

The ammonia output will feed an existing ammonium nitrate plant at the site.
