Rafael Cayuela has been appointed Director and Corporate Chief Economist at Dow Chemical.

Rafael Cayuela, former Commercial Director for Ethylene, Benzene and Styrene at Styron, has been appointed Director and Corporate Chief Economist at Dow Chemical. In this position he is also joining the Dow corporate strategy team. In his new role Cayuela will help to translate the various macro-economic and industry trends into Dow corporate strategy, working closely with key stakeholders; especially regulators, governments and international organizations.

Cayuela is an economist by education and has a decade of experience within the chemical industry. He holds a degree in Business and Economics from the University Complutense in Madrid, Spain, and Wolverhampton in UK, a Masters degree in European Economics from the College of Europe, Brugge, Belgium, an Executive MBA from the University of Chicago, USA and an MBA from the Dow Chemical & Northwood MBA, Michigan, USA.

Before his intermezzo at Styron, a spin-off from Dow, Cayuela worked for Dow Chemical in Madrid, Spain, the Dow global headquarters in Midland, Michiga,n and the Dow European headquarters in Horgen, Switzerland.

Cayuela is also the author of the book "The Future of the Chemical Industry by 2050", published by Wiley in May 2013.
