Oqema Acquires Claus Nitsche & Sohn

German chemical distributor Oqema has acquired Hamburg, Germany-based compatriot Claus Nitsche & Sohn. Oqema said that with its focus on high-quality essential oils, natural flavors, fragrances ingredients and innovative ingredients solutions, the product scope of Claus Nitsche & Sohn is a perfect complement to the groups’s Flavour & Fragrance range.

Morton Schmidt, who has managed Claus Nitsche & Sohn for the past 11 years, will be co-leading the company in the future: “We are sure we have found the perfect partner in Oqema, who represents our values and is simply a good fit for us. Nitsche will initially act independently within the Oqema Group, combining the long-lasting expertise in the field of organic-certified essential oils and conventional natural essential oils as well as natural aromatic isolates with the international network of customers and suppliers of the Oqema Group.”

Hartmut Kunz, CFO of Oqema, said that with this complementary addition the company continues to pursue its European strategy: “What convinced us is the quality of the management and the excellent product range, which provides a good operating base for further expansion into the natural oils business. On one hand, it complements our existing business and on the other, we can tap into the strong market position of Claus Nitsche & Sohn with its sustainable range of products,” he added.
