Nuberg Wins Contract for Uzbekistan H202 Project

Globally active EPC and turnkey project management company Nuberg EPC recently won a contract from Uzbekistan Hydrogen Peroxide JV to build and provide technology and engineering for an 85 t/d, 50% chemical-grade hydrogen peroxide plant in Uzbekistan’s Navoi region.

The plant comprised of three main sections, including hydrogenation, oxidation and extraction, will use technology developed by EB Nuberg Sweden.

Nuberg will handle the project from concept to commissioning, which it said could take around 15 months, though the schedule is “ambitious.” This will be the first such project in Uzbekistan for the company that to date has already delivered six turnkey H2O2 projects in Egypt, Ethiopia, UAE, Bangladesh, and India.

Uzbekistan Hydrogen Peroxide JV was created as a joint venture with Turkey to implement projects for deep gas processing. Reports say the plant could potentially substitute imports of hydrogen peroxide into Uzbekistan completely with the possibility of could exporting some of the output to the CIS countries and beyond.

Start-up of the facility was previously announced for 2021, and the price tag was given as $40 million.  Reasons for the delay were not given. Like many other projects, it may have been pandemic-related. The chemical is in demand from the medical, textile, pulp and paper and mining industries, as well as for wastewater aeration, food processing and waste processing.
