Novartis Names Pharma Veteran Symonds CFO Designate

Swiss pharmaceuticals group Novartis tapped industry veteran and banking high-flier Jonathan Symonds to succeed Raymund Breu as chief financial officer, in a move welcomed by the market. Symonds, who spent eight years as CFO of UK-based rival Astrazeneca, will join Novartis on Sept. 1 from Goldman Sachs, where he is managing director of investment banking.
