Merck Appoints Cuong Viet Do As Chief Strategy Officer

 

Merck & Co. said that it has appointed Cuong Viet Do as chief strategy officer, effective October 3.

As chief strategy officer, Do will be responsible for both developing and executing enterprise-wide strategy and further building connections between the current and future business plans of Merck's franchises, divisions, and functions. He will report to Kenneth Frazier, Merck's president and chief executive officer, and will serve on the company's Executive Committee.

Do succeeds Mervyn Turner, who retired from the company this summer.

Since 2009, Do served as senior vice president of corporate strategy and business development at TE Connectivity, formerly Tyco Electronics. Prior to that, he was a senior vice president at Lenovo.
