Tecnicas Reunidas will first carry out front end engineering design (FEED), which it expects to complete this year. Once FEED is finalized and financing for the project is closed, the Madrid-based group will then provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the project.

The complex will produce 660,000 t/y ammonia, 577,500 t/y urea, 395,000 t/y nitric acid and 500,000 t/y ammonium nitrate, becoming the largest combined fertilizer plant in Kazakhstan when completed, Tecnicas Reunidas said. Investment costs will be approximately $1 billion. An onstream date for the complex was not disclosed.
