Ingevity Hikes UK Caprolactone Capacity

US specialty chemicals company Ingevity has announced plans to hike capacity for caprolactone monomer at its facility in Warrington, UK. The increase will be achieved through a series of optimization projects over the next 12 months that will expand Ingevity’s global monomer capacity by more than 20%.

“This capacity expansion in Warrington will better position Ingevity to meet increased global demand for our Capa derivative technologies, improve the reliability of monomer supply in the merchant market and enhance service for customers across the globe,” said Steve Hulme, vice president, engineered polymers.

Last December, Ingevity announced plans for a new laboratory in Warrington that would be dedicated to accelerating innovation and application development for its suite of Capa polycaprolactone technologies used in coatings, adhesives, sealant and elastomer (CASE) applications. The facility is expected to go into operation by winter 2021.

The company also revealed in February that it would expand caprolactone polyol production capabilities at its site in DeRidder, Louisiana, USA, by 40%. The new capacity is scheduled to be operational by the first quarter of 2022.
